We built and “patented” our own instrument. We decided to make a pipe instrument but with a twist, we put rubber bands at the end to pluck and make noise. Our instrument went from High C to Middle C.
“The Tumult”

Another project i did was a global warming awareness/prevention project when Ms. Pierce was teaching. I looked up ways to help slow down global warming and reduce carbon dioxide in the air, and adding solar panels to your home can help. What solar panels basically do is use the power of the sun and turn it into energy. Solar panels are a good way to reduce electricity costs and reduce carbon dioxide. The only dowside is the cost, it can take from 16-22 years to get your money back and actually profit from the sun with free energy. another issue with solar panels is the building process, the power to make it often produces alot of green house gas. This fossil-emission payback period is normally considered to be seven to 10 years ontop of the 16-22 payback period.

We recently got a Choose Your Own Adventure challenge. We had to think of a plot, write, edit, and make art for a 40 page book in under a month, and publish it online. It was quite a challenge to write it all so fast, and to code it all. We actually re-wrote our story half way from a school story to a mystery. I overall think i worked pretty hard and worked really hard the two weeks we had to rewrite our story and I’m proud of it. The only challenges i really had was making sure to save on mind42 (the program we used to write/edit) and i didn’t learn how to use Dreamweaver (the html program) until the day it was due so it was a little hard to finish but we did. Last of all, i think i was pretty organized in Humanities, basically because the majority of our work was online.(the picure below was our cover page) Another Project i faced was a 300 word essay on a can fulled of ashes found at a asylum. What an asylum is, or “was” a place where they took people who didn’t fit in. Something as simple as someone with a.d.d (attention deficiet disorder) could be placed there. Many at the asylum were tested on and treaten more like animals than humans. many had to stay their whole life not being able to see their families and all they could be remembered by was a tin can. I chose the can below because i thought it looked cool. The reason the can has colors is because it’s so old and corroded. What we had to do was basically write about how they might have got there, or how their life would of been if they didn’t get forced into an asylum. I thought it was interesting but the challenging thing was thinking of a story and character for it.Here’s My Story:Andrea was an ordinary girl, she loved being around friends and horseback riding. She lived on a ranch and got to see her horse blackie, almost every time she was home except for when she was at school or with friends. She loved horses with a passion and had been riding basically since she could walk, she claims three but everyone else in her family knows it was five. Andrea was an average student, she earned A’s and B’s when she tryed hard, and C’s when she was out later grooming blackie and enjoying the other farm animals. (which happened more often than not.) Andrea was 16 and already had a job as a groomer for a close by ranch for minimum wage. The only thing she didnt like about her job was that she had to groom and ride the spooked horses, and she knew one day, one of the horses would buck her off.. She wasn’t sure if it was worth the chance but she was saving up for a car and it would only be a temporary job. One morning she got up really early to get in a little riding time with blackie, and finish her work at her job so when she got home from school she could make plans for the weekend and not worry about work. She was drousy when she got up, so she took some advil and took a shower to wake up. She walked outside to blackie and did what she always did, strap on his saddle and brush his mane. She got up on blackie and guided him to the ranch where she worked. She got off Blackie and tied him up next to the barn, he didn’t like staying still for too long so she was sure too make it a quick run. She picked out the horse that looked the easiest to clean, and was the most trusting to ride. She noticed immediatly that the horse was acting different. She strapped on the saddle and got up, and leaded her out into the ring for some trotting. Then she noticed that she saw blackie and thought maybe thats why she was acting up earlier, and while coming into the ring the horse spooked and threw andrea off straight onto her head and it all happened so fast she could not respond. Two weeks later andrea woke up in a hospital deaf and was also diagnosed with amnesia. She was soon transferred to an asylum because they believed she was mentally ill. I was andrea’s best friend, and when i saw her at the hospital she was not the same girl she was before, but you could tell she wasn’t mentally ill. I had to say my goodbye’s to my friend, the girl who was there for everything through thick and thin. We spent the weekends together and talked about the stupidest things but we always laughed until we cried. I’m now 23 and I’ll never forget that day because i haven’t seen her since..

I worked on a Dia Los Muertos project, also know as “Day Of The Dead.” What struck me about their culture is that they celebrate death, instead of grieving it like many others. Basically what they do is decorate all around the deceased’s graves and cook them their favorite food for them to eat in the afterlife. I brought in sugar cookies and i decorated skulls on the cookies with icing.

Another project i worked on was our real life burrito at Robertaco’s project. what we had to do was learn how to interact and learns how to order food at a taco shop. the challenging part was we weren’t exactly sure what they were going to ask us so i reviewed some of the possible things they might ask like “what would you like to order?, or what would you like to eat?” etc. also we couldn’t speak and english.
